A Celebration of Reading

Every year in the month of October the Wheeler School hosts our Annual Celebration of Reading. This event is made possible with the support of the Wheeler Parents Association and a partnership with the Lincoln School Children's Book Festival. This year we are honored to welcome award winning author and illustrator Dan Santat. Dan Santat will be here on the Wheeler Campus Friday, October 18th. He will be presenting throughout the day to students in Nursery through seventh grade. 

Dan Santat is an author and illustrator of children’s books and graphic novels; he has also developed an animated show for Disney. He resides in California with his wife, two children and a few pets.

In 2015, Dan Santat won the Caldecott Medal for his picture book titled Beekle: the Adventures of an Imaginary Friend. Since this honor he has produced inspiring messages from his follow up picture books Are We There Yet? and After the Fall. He has written and illustrated the graphic novel Sidekicks. In addition to his solo projects, he collaborated with Mac Barnett, Kate Beasley and Dav Pilkey creating illustrations for their stories and book covers. Lastly, Dan Santat has created the  Disney’s pixar show, The Replacements.
