Bookmark This! Hosting online tutorials book talks and more....in a time of social distancing

COVID19 has changed everything as we all know. At the beginning of each school year, my colleagues and I plan our blog post contributions. One of the librarians typically posts each month. The posts include highlights of the work we do with independent reading challenges, professional development and selected and recommended book titles. April of this year was designated as my month. I will write about our online excursion into Reading Challenges later this month, we felt it was important to introduce you to the resource and tutorial work we have started.

At the very beginning, we developed online guides for families and faculty to highlight resources and make them easily accessible. You can find both guides linked to the top of our Prescott Library Main Page. They are rich with accessible information, great books to read and activities to do. Have a look at them as they can be so helpful in navigating online learning. We encourage people to continue to borrow from our e-book and audiobook collections on Overdrive through the Sora app. Please watch the video linked in a previous post and here and created by the Assistant Director of Strategic Communication, Meryl Willett, following the steps to download an ebook.

Do you want to chat with a librarian in real-time? Maybe you need a password for a database or have a reference question that requires ninja-like research skills then try our Chat reference service. One of the librarians is available on the chat for most of each school day linked through our LibGuides.

Therefore, in order to better support users of all of the resources we have collated and curated for you, look for posts that include, online tutorials, and book-related discussions.

Watch the video about Pebble Go, a database ideally suited for our younger students created by our Primary Grades Librarian, Charlene Williams.

Informational short videos for faculty will be posted as well. Watch this professionally edited tutorial about Swank our recently added streaming movie service produced by our Upper School Librarian, Kate Covintree.

Look for our twice-weekly posts of resources and independent reading ideas. Bookmark our blog and check back often! Best wishes during these engaging and challenging times. We are here to help with all of your reading and information needs!

Contact the members of Team Library by email with questions, if you need help using any of the library resources or want to chat with a librarian during our online school days.
